Michael Yanoska
Born to a coal mining family in Harlan County, Kentucky, MICHAEL YANOSKA began
pursuing his musical career in 1963 as a member of a folk trio called The Towne Hall
Trio. While performing with the group, he quickly developed a reputation as a talented
songwriter, and many of his original songs were performed on their first album in 1965.
In 1968, he moved to Los Angeles. Performing solo as a country singer at the
Troubabdour, he garnered a contract with Epic Records and recorded his first solo
album titled YANOSKA.

Over the years, he continued to perform and record his original songs, allowing him the
good fortune to work with other very talented artists – the likes of John Beland
(guitarist), Mary McCaslin (folk artist), and composer and songwriter Paul Williams, to
name a few. Then add to this the extreme privilege of a personal meeting with Johnny
Cash. To this day, he remembers that as one of the fondest moments of his professional
life.

Michael is 79 years old now. Like so many talented artists, he never became rich or
famous, but he nonetheless devoted his entire professional life to music. Music has
always been and still is his calling. He has entertained audiences nationwide. And he
has written and recorded close to 300 songs. He most recently signed a contract with
Expressive Artists LLC (Michael Davenport) to place some of his original songs and
recordings within the soundtracks of TV shows and movies. One of his songs was
recently used by Disney in an episode of Last Days of the Space Age.
I (Maureen) have cherished my friendship with Michael for over 50 years. It has been a
blessing and an honor to have witnessed the passion and creativity of this uniquely
gifted singer-songwriter/musician through the decades.
