Maureen Holmes Brown

I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. And, even though I have spent most of my adult life in California, I will always be a Michigander at heart. The beauty of Michigan – its lakes and farmlands, its earthy smells and lush, green forests – is in my blood.

I attended the University of Hawaii and then UCLA, earning a degree in psychology. I proceeded to work for many years in multiple capacities in the film industry, working on assorted projects spanning the globe. I enjoyed them all. But my favorite venture was producing the documentary “BULLRIDER” with my producing partner, Bill Cheeseman. I loved producing with Bill. “BULLRIDER,” directed by the talented Josh Aronson, won an award at the Milan Sports Film Festival and received a limited theatrical release.

Albeit cliché, my husband, Ron, and my wonderful step-daughter, step-son, beautiful daughter-in-law, and my two forever-amazing, irreplaceable grandsons are the light of my life. Both my birth family and the family I created have always mattered most to me.

“The Backyard Boys” is my foray into the commercial world of children’s books. I hope many busy, young hands enjoy turning these pages. I hope these pages inspire young minds to find their own unique, worthy adventures.
